BELUAH IRENE DOWNEY (nee KNOWLES) Irene Downey passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on August 25, 2007, at the age of 96. Irene was predeceased by her husband John; brothers, Eldred and Fred; and sister Eleata. She leaves to mourn her passing, her son Robert (Jose) of Qualicum Beach, BC; her grandsons, Howard (Andrea) Downey, Shawn (Terri) Downey; and great-grandson Mason (Downey), all of Calgary; a sister Ruth Sarahs; and brother Jack Knowles, both of Winnipeg; a niece Clara (Bert) Fergusson of Calgary; and many more nieces, nephews and friends. Irene was born in La Riviere, Manitoba, on February 18, 1911. After finishing school she moved to Winnipeg to go to a commercial college and then to work. She met John in Winnipeg and they were married in May 1934. Irene and John had traveled to many places and had seen many wonderful things in their lifetimes. She was a wonderful person and a good friend to all who knew her and will be missed by many. At Irene's request there will be no funeral or memorial service.
