GEORGE DOUGLAS PAUL MOULDEN The family of Douglas Moulden announces his sudden passing on August 22, 2007. Douglas is survived by his parents, Gwen and Paul, sister Diane (Doug Mowbray), brother David (Paula Henry), and brother Donald (Margarete); nieces, Erin Mowbray (Mike Haberoth), Ceilidh and Kate, and nephews, Alexander, Daniel and Declan. He was predeceased by his nephew Patrick Mowbray in 2003. Douglas was born on December 11, 1954. He attended Queenston, Sir William Osler, J.B. Mitchell Junior High, and Grant Park High Schools. After graduating high school, Douglas completed his Bachelor of Arts and went on to complete his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) at the University of Manitoba. He traveled, twice to Europe, and spent six months living on a Kabutz in Israel. During his life Douglas worked for CIBC, Eaton's, Mouldens Ltd., ran his own agency business, and for the last nine years, he was employed by Bayridge Lumber and Forest Products. Douglas was a quiet man, who preferred to spend time on his own, especially tending his garden. He enjoyed fostering the growth of his plants and his nieces and nephews. Yearly, he would give each of his nieces and nephews a tomato plant he had grown from seed, to tend in their own gardens. He took great interest in his nieces and nephews, attending many swimming lessons, games, and events and supported them in all of their endeavours. He enjoyed swimming, running, and cycling, and baking pies for family occasions. He was actively involved in saving Sherbrook Pool and took great pride in its continued operation. He enjoyed and valued visiting and helping many neighbours and became like a son to the Grays. His visits and help will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Sherbrook Pool, 403-15 Carlton Street, R3C 1N8, or a charity of one's choice. A memorial service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Friday, August 31, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Donna Sorokowski officiating. A private family interment will take place at a future date.
