MABEL JANETTA SMITH (nee COOKMAN) Suddenly, and with sadness, we announce the death of Mabel Smith on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Mabel will be sadly missed. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Rosemary (Doug) Crate; brothers-in-law, Bud Harlow, Tom (Julia) of Kelowna; nieces and nephews, Bob (Loretta) Harlow, Jennifer, Jay, Laurie, Allan (Kira) Harlow, Jim (Arlene), Marie Harlow, Wendy (Greg), Melissa and Samantha. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2004. Mabel was employed by the Department of National Defense, Canada Agriculture. She was also a member of Deer Lodge United Church. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Presbyterian Church, 1476 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Harlow, Jim Harlow and Allan Harlow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mabel's memory to the Firefighters Burn Fund Inc., 303 - 83 Garry St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9.
