ARMAND KELERIS It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Armand Keleris on August 29, 2007, at 78 years of age. Armand was born in Riga, Latvia and lived in nearby Saldu. He immigrated to Canada in 1949 following time spent in Sweden and Germany. Armand met Lilijia in Canada shortly after and they married on December 24, 1956. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this past Christmas. Armand first worked as a bricklayer and then started a long career with the Province of Manitoba, Government Services in the early 1960s until his retirement. He was a construction supervisor and used these skills to build a cottage which he enjoyed at Lee River, Manitoba up until the day before his death. Armand and Lilijia raised three children and enjoyed weekends at a winter cottage in Badger, Manitoba and the summer cottage at Lee River. Armand was an avid hunter and fisherman which he enjoyed as a long time hobby along with his wife Lilijia. Armand was active in the local Latvian Society, Daugavas Vanagi, and with the St. Boniface Wildlife Association. He enjoyed the company of many family and friends who will all miss his friendly presence.
