DIANE MARY KNOWLES (nee GREEN) Diane passed away at Riverview Health Centre on Monday, August 27, 2007, peacefully, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Molly Green. She is survived by her son Paul (Suzanne) and daughter Natalie (Paul), grandchildren Elizabeth, Steven, Michael, and Sarah, brother Rick (Miriam), and sister Catherine (Keith), as well as other relatives and many friends in Canada, England, and elsewhere. Diane was born in Winnipeg, but moved, at age three, to Stourbridge, England, where she grew up, married, and made many lifelong friends. In 1979, Diane came back to Winnipeg with her children to join the rest of the family, who had already returned to Canada. In 2005, Diane was honoured by the River East Transcona School Division as she celebrated her 25th year as librarian at John W. Gunn Middle School. She treasured working in the library and with the students at the school. Many co-workers became such good friends that it would be more accurate to call them family. Diane devotedly and selflessly cared for her parents until her Mom's passing in 2001 and her Dad's in March of this year. Diane loved music, reading, knitting, and laughing, but above all she loved her family and her friends. Diane was an intelligent, thoughtful, and kind woman; she will be missed by all that knew her. Our gratitude goes to the staff at Concordia Hospital, and also to the entire staff at 3E Riverview Health Centre for treating our Mother with such kindness and respect. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Diane to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation.
