He leaves behind his loving wife and companion of 52 years, Dorothy (née Tinck), son Kenneth (and Angie) in Ottawa Ontario, their daughter Melissa (and Gary) Lalande and baby Gabriel; son Calvin (and Brenda) in Gastineau, Quebec, their children, Erin and Michael; daughter Andrea (and Clyde) in Edmonton, Alberta, their children, Steven and Sean; and son Sheldon (and Joanne) in Winnipeg, their children, Natasha and Travis. Dearly loved brother of Therese Scott, Esther Caspar, Florence Anderson, Elaine Schwenneker and Lorne Chlup. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Caroline Clupp, sisters, Violet and Evelyn, and nephew Brent Jones. Ed loved music and spent countless hours playing his beloved keyboard - often well into the night. He was a member of the Winnipeg Singing Senior's group for many years. He was a member of the I.O.F. for over 50 years and keenly involved in running the Majorettes and Band while the kids were growing up. In 1956 and well into the 1980s, he played his Euphonium with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Band. While in the hospital, he loved nothing better than to listen to his favourite songs on the local Portage La Prairie station. After retirement, he and Dorothy spent almost all their time traveling - both near and far. They spent countless weekends camping out with the Winnipeg Wandering Wheels and he will be sadly missed by his fellow caravan campers - many of which were life-long friends. Ed and Dorothy traveled throughout the United States (48 states), visited Europe twice and enjoyed three ocean cruises. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on September 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by a celebration of his life in the Provincial Room of the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans (ANAVETS) Hall, 3584 Portage Ave. The celebration will focus on his love of music. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital on 5 and 3W for their care and compassion. Also all the home care workers and nurses. A special Thank You to Jessie Mackay who gave so freely of her time to support our Dad and Mother. In lieu of flowers, a gift to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L OK6 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6. Edward's Journeys Just Begun Don't think of him as gone away; His journey's just begun. Life holds so many facets: This earth is only one. Just think of him as resting From the sorrows and the tears In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing That we could know today, How nothing but our sadness Can really pass away. And think of him as living In the hearts of those he touched... For nothing loved is ever lost, And he was loved so much. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
