EILEEN SCOTT BLEAKLEY It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother Eileen Scott Bleakley on Thursday, August 30, 2007. Born in Winnipeg on September 19, 1919, Eileen was predeceased by her husband Roland Mackey Bleakley in 1983, parents Susan (nee Murphy) and Michael McAnulty, sister Mary Isabel Ferley and brothers R. Emmett and Lawrence McAnulty. Remaining to cherish her memory are son Robert (Bob) Bleakley (wife Liz) of Denver, daughter Barbara Zawada (husband Doug) of Oak Bank, daughter-in-law Judy Bleakley of Denver, grandchildren Kathleen and Michael Bleakley, Blake and Braden Zawada, as well as niece Susan Ferley of London, ON, and nephews Paul Ferley of Toronto, ON, and David Bleakley (wife Sally) of British Columbia and Senegal. Mom attended Mulvey/Gordon Bell school before venturing into the business world at Bender Bootry on Portage Avenue, buying and selling ladies fashion accessories. Once married in February of 1945, Mom's focus was on her home, family and spending time with their many friends. Dad's job at Swifts took our family all over Canada - Moose Jaw, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary, and returning to Winnipeg in 1968. Many lifelong friends were made along this journey and Mom kept in touch with all of them. Her interests ranged from speed skating, tennis and baseball when she was younger; to having crib, bridge and yahtzee nights with friends throughout their married life; to most recently playing bridge, reading and watching tennis, baseball and golf on T.V. Mom's faithful bridge buddies were a lifeline to her and we thank them so much. Our family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many special people at Home Care who have enabled our Mom to carry on living independently since her last stroke almost twelve years ago. As well, we are very grateful for the caring medical attention Mom was given at St. Boniface Hospital this past week, both in Emergency and Internal Medicine (B5). Your compassion and understanding was such a comfort. A Celebration of Mom's life will be held Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road with Rev. Dawn Ballantine-Dickson officiating. Viewing will take place from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Active Pallbearers will be Bob Bleakley, Doug Zawada, Paul Ferley, Michael Bleakley, Blake Zawada and Braden Zawada, with Honourary Pallbearers Archie McGillivray, Evelyn McLeod, David Bleakley, Susan Ferley and Kathleen Bleakley. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you so wish, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. In Care of Arrangements: GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
