ROBERT WAYNE FALCONER 1947 - 2007 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Bob Falconer, on August 29, 2007 at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Ward. Bob was predeceased by his parents Mary and William Falconer, parents-in-law Mollie and Chris Daman, and sister-in-law Sharon Leach. Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Heather; brother Bill; sons Jordan (Tracey) and James (Janet); grandchildren Carson and Courtlyn; grand bunny Buddy; nieces Katherine Baker (Bob), Jennifer Leach (Darren), Natalia and Caroline Daman; nephews Robbie Leach and Christopher Daman; grand-niece and nephew Fahren and Bryce Baker; brothers-in-law Grant Daman (Zoila) and Paul Leach; and many cousins and dear friends. Dad was a teacher and school administrator in the Winnipeg School Division for 35 years. He taught at Clifton and Queenston schools and was an administrator at Greenway, River Elm, Lord Roberts, Harrow and Wolseley schools. Dad had a great admiration for and enjoyed working with his many colleagues, parents and students throughout his career. He always treasured his friendships that he made during his career in education. Dad enjoyed many sports including basketball, hockey, bowling, tennis, racketball and long distance running - but his passion was golf. Dad was a member at the Transcona Golf Club for many years and served on the Board of Directors as Membership Director and President. In his retirement, Dad golfed almost every day. The golf course was a special place for him and the friends that he made there were an important part of his life. Dad's ultimate accomplishment was his hole-in-one on Transcona's 14th hole on September 19, 2003 - the best shot he ever made with a 4 iron. The only thing Dad loved more than golf was his family and his happiest times were spent with his loved ones. Dad was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin. He spent hours coaching hockey and bowling or just playing with the kids. In his retirement, Dad enjoyed attending the grandchildren's hockey, ballet, gymnastics or school field trips. His love and devotion to us, his family, have made us what we are today. He will forever be in our hearts. Dad was a strong and courageous individual, fighting cancer head-on. He always remained positive and kept his sense of humour. Dad always walked into CancerCare with a determined smile. We would like to thank Dr. Seftel and R.N. Nicole and Dr. Ahmed from CancerCare. Thank you also to the many nurses from the 3rd floor chemotherapy unit as well as Dr. St. Goddard, Dr. Crawford and Dr. Crowe and all the nursing staff from St. Boniface Palliative Care. Dad will be greatly missed but never forgotten. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
