He is also survived by his brother, Allan, and his sister, Isla, who has also resided at Extendicare Tuxedo Villa for the past two years. Logan was a resident of Winnipeg all of his life. He has been interviewed several times for articles and TV documentaries as he was one of the few residents who recall the 1919 strike. He was a newspaper carrier and on Main Street at the time. Logan later worked with CNR and Chicago North Western Railway before going to the newly formed Hudson's Bay Mining and Smelting Company in 1926 when HBMS opened its base metals mine in Flin Flon, Manitoba. HBMS was establishing its head office in Winnipeg at the time and Logan worked his way up in the purchasing department to become the head purchasing agent. He retired in 1967 head of the Purchasing Department and as one of the longest employees of HBMS (30 years). Logan enjoyed traveling. His wife Verna and their son Donald spent their vacations motoring through the United States and Canada and later Logan and Verna made frequent trips to Europe and the Caribbean. Logan was an active supporter of the Manitoba Theatre Centre and of the Winnipeg Ballet. He was one of the founders of The Griffon's Club, a charitable association that promoted local scholarship; was president of the senior Chamber of Commerce; and in 1980, became an active member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg. Logan continued to pride himself in being able to put people with like interests in touch with one another as was evident in his many ongoing friendships. The family is grateful for the professional and very personal care provided by the staff of the Tuxedo Villa for the past three years of Logan's life.
