CHRISTOPHER JAMES THOMSON It's with great heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our dear Father, Son, Brother and Nephew: Christopher James Thomson in Victoria, BC on August 28, 2007 at the age of 47. Chris was predeceased by his loving mother Dorothy Thomson; his grandparents, Leon and Auguste Wagner, two uncles, Herb and Otto Wagner, all from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also predeceased by Sara and William Hutchison Thomson; his grandparents from Edinburgh, Scotland. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Justin Thomson of Edmonton, Alberta. Matthew and Elisha Thomson both of Castlegar BC. Chris also will be deeply and sadly missed by his father, William Thomson; brother William Keith, sisters, Kathleen (Ken) Debra (Danny) and Shelley. Chris will also be cherished by his nieces and nephew Kyle (Susie) and Kari Krochenski (Geoff) and Sierra Wray, extended family, Buddy and Pat Wagner, Nettie Wagner, and cousins Ruth (Paul) and Leon (Rae). All of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Marlene and Eldon Champion and cousins from Halifax, NS. Also he will be remembered by extended family in Scotland, Walter and Sandra Fordyce (whom he had the pleasure of their resent visit to Winnipeg) James and Betty Thomson, and his cousin Mike (Anna) Thomson. Our brother Chris was born on Christmas Day 1959, and raised in Winnipeg. He attended Sargent Park ,and R.B Russell High School. Remembering back, he always thought he got dealt a crappy hand seeing how we all had to share our Christmas' with his Birthday. But our Mom always made sure Chris had extra presents under the tree. Being the middle child of five, Chris was the feisty one. If it wasn't Chris practicing his karate moves on his youngest sister...he was trying to hide from Mom and Dad after throwing a baseball through the neighbor's window. Or hiding a kitty he found on the street in his room for days before anyone found out...Chris was always in one form or another making it known he was the middle child . We have so many wonderful childhood memories that we all will cherish. Entering his teen years he became a member of Cadets at Minto Armories . He had the opportunity to spend two summers in Vernon, BC as a cadet. That is what decided his career path. At the age of 18, Chris enlisted in the Canadian Military Navy . After finishing his basic training in Cornwall, NS he was then posted in Victoria, BC. Chris started his Military career specializing in Naval Communication. He married Carol in Winnipeg in 1987, returning to Victoria where they raised their three children. In later years, although Chris and his kids lived apart, he always had them in his heart. He was proud of each and every one of them. As a member of the Canadian Navy he has traveled to places such as Korea, Hawaii, Russia, Panama Canal, Haiti and Afghanistan. He also has attended numerous training courses on the East Coast. Our brother made Victoria his home for the last 29 years, though he always came home for visits. He very recently returned home where he had the pleasure of seeing all his family; including our Aunt and Uncle from Scotland. We are very so thankful for that time we had with him. Being out at Sea was his love. The Navy was his life. Dearest Chris, Although your time was shortened with us...you are able to rest now and be at peace. As you enter the wonderful world of heaven to be with our Mom, remember, we all love you and will miss you, and as Dad always said to you, Good Bye Pal, God Bless Our family would like to give special Thanks to : Victoria General Hospital in Victoria, BC. Lt. Brenda Cyr and Padre Laura Paddich from Victoria. Thank You to Cpt. Spencer, Padre Lisa Pacarynuk and Padre Lance Gagdziak, CFB Winnipeg, for all their guidance, care and concern to our family during this trying time.
