ANDREW GRESCHNER It is with heavy hearts that we announce that peacefully, with dignity and surrounded by family, Dad passed away on September 1, 2007 Dad was born in Winnipeg on July 29, 1931, to Joseph and Elizabeth Greschner. Andy was raised and went to school in Winnipeg's Point Douglas area. During the 1940s, Dad left school and went to work to help out the family. He held various jobs, but the one he was most proud of was working as a Switchman at CPR's Winnipeg Yard. While at CPR, Dad was actively involved with the UTU, holding various positions on the executive. There was nothing he enjoyed more than having a Superintendent woken up in the middle of the night. In 1954, Andy married the love of his life, Norma Bolton. Together, they made a home and a life in East Kildonan. Andy is predeceased by his wife Norma; his parents; his brothers-in-law Joe Lenard, Don Jeffrey; sister-in-law Patricia Beckett, and brother-in-law J.H. Peter Bolton. He is survived by his loving daughter Joanne and son-in-law Guy McMahon; grandson Derek; his sisters, Margaret Lenard, Betty Jeffrey; brother Robert and his wife Karen; brother-in-law Bob Beckett; sister-in-law Joan Pilkington and several nieces and nephews. Andy was very active within the community and with community service. He was actively involved with the Lions Club, the Lions Foundation and Lions Eyebank. He was also the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow from Lions International. He also was involved with the seniors' slow-pitch league at Morse Place Community Club. He was never known to miss a Spud, Bud and Steak or a meat draw at the 215 Legion. Trust us, you needed to book an appointment to see the man. One of Andy's passions was travel. There were many family vacations by train, car, or air. Most recently, Andy was looking forward to going to Vancouver to visit his brother Robert and his family. We would like to send a special Thank You to the doctors and nurses of the CICU and MICU at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion at this difficult time. Also, Thank You to Wayne and Valerie for their love, support and care. In keeping with Dad's activity within the community, flowers are gratefully declined. Please make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Lions Eyebank or a charity of your choice. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
