Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNETTIE GAMBREL January 24, 1931 - September 1, 2007 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who for years fought a brave battle with chronic lung disease and succumbed to its complications on September 1, 2007, at the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. Nettie was born in Winnipeg and married her late husband Jack in 1949. They had four children, Larry Gambrel (Marcia), Colleen McJannet (Clif), Linda Benzelock (Don) and Brian Gambrel. She was the proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, Jason, Corrie, Robert, Jennifer, Dana, Richard, Steven, Erin and Bryce in addition to a fairly recent arrival, great-grandson Isaac. She particularly thrived on visiting her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. In earlier years with husband Jack they especially loved traveling across the country, into the USA and within Manitoba just to visit with family and friends. Nettie was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church all her life and was particularly fond of the friendliness of the clergy. On the day before she passed away, she particularly noted the surprise visit by Father Isidore who stopped in to say hi. Nettie was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Anna Garbolinski; her husband Jack (early 2002); brothers, Bill and Fred (Fritz); and by sisters, Sue and Mary. She leaves behind sister Theresa of Winnipeg. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Gambrel, Robert Benzelock, Steven Benzelock, Richard Benzelock, Sean Hayward and Kyle Turcotte. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Dannefaer and Martial Desrosiers and Bryce Gambrel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Raise the Roof fund would be greatly appreciated (737 Bannerman Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2X 1J9).
