EVERT ORLEAN NELSON It is with heavy hearts that we announce the departure of a beloved Brother and Uncle who passed away at the Glenboro Personal Care Home on September 4, 2007. Evert was born on September 17, 1920, in Stephen, Minnesota. He lived most of his life in Sprague, MB, and worked farmland at Hickey. Evert worked over 40 years as a diesel mechanic for E. Holmgren Son Ltd. in Sprague. After retiring, Evert moved to Glenboro, MB, to be close to family. At a young age Evert was inspired by his Uncle Carl to play the accordion. He was never too shy to play for family and friends. Later in life when the accordion became too heavy he switched to playing the keyboard. In his younger years Evert enjoyed 10-pin bowling. Later in life he loved to woodwork. His handiwork will be adored by his family for years to come. Evert was predeceased by his father Nels, his mother Christina and his brother Loren who perished in The Second World War. Evert leaves behind his sister Clarice, his brother Harley (Therese) and many nieces and nephews who thought the world of him. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at the Sprague Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2007. A reception will follow at the Evergreen Seniors Club in Sprague, MB. All are welcome. The family would like to extend appreciation to the staff of the Glenboro Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers memoriams may be made in Evert's memory to the Sprague Museum, in care of Doris Hovorka, Sprague, MB R0A 1Z0. I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.
