Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES EDWARD FRANCIS BELL 1929 - 2007 Peacefully at Rock Lake Hospital, Crystal City, MB, on August 19, 2007, Jim, beloved husband of Merle (nee McLaren) passed away at the age of 77 years after a lengthy struggle with cancer. A private burial took place at Clearwater, MB cemetery on August 27, 2007. Jim lived at Clearwater and received his education there. He later received a diploma in agriculture at the University of Manitoba. Jim and Merle farmed at Clearwater and Pilot Mound. He spent 12 years as game warden for the Manitoba Government. They then bought and operated the Falcon Motor Hotel at Falcon Lake for five years, thereafter returning to farming. On retirement, they built a log house at Rock Lake on the property Jim trapped and hunted on when he was a boy. Jim is survived by his wife Merle, married 50 years; his sister Mary Jean (Don) McEwen, Balmertown, ON; brother-in-law Roy (Alice) McLaren, Crystal City, MB; nephews, Raymond (Dawn) McLaren and family Mike, Riley and Jaycee; Ken McLaren, Marilyn McLaren and family Christine (Murray), Craig (Christa); Sandy (Carol) McLaren and family Breanna. He will be sadly missed by his special friend, his yellow lab by the name of Nikki. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rock Lake Hospital, Crystal City, MB, R0K 0N0, where Jim received gracious and loving care for the last months of his life, or to a charity of one's choice.
