WILLIAM (BILL/WILLY) WITZKY It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather on September 5, 2007, after a brave battle with cancer. Bill leaves to mourn his wife Jean, sons Keith (Hedy), Wade, granddaughter Jennell (Jason), grandson Derek, sister Winnifred Volkart as well as nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Transcona, July 17, 1929, and lived most of his youth in St. Boniface. His adult life was spent in East Elmwood. Bill married Jean on September 30, 1950. He was active in East Elmwood Community Club in the 1960s. Bill worked for Westeel for 47 years, retiring in 1994. His retirement years were spent doing puzzles and listening to Country and Western in his patio. His last greatest joy was to see his granddaughter get married this past June. Bill also enjoyed Christmas Eve dinners at his son and daughter-in-law's house. He also enjoyed watching TV hockey and football and yelling at the players and refs. Bill enjoyed reading murder mystery novels, camping with family at Falcon Lake or Thief River Falls, and in his retirement years, going on bus tours with Jean. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion during his last days. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with a reception to follow. Interment will take place following the luncheon at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
