ANNE HARDER Anne passed away on Thursday, September, 6, 2007 at Tudor House Personal Care home at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her parents Bernhard (1965) and Anna (1972) Harder, infant sister Elisabeth (1920), brother Nick (2007), sister-in-law Margaret (1985), brother-in-law Peter Epp (2002), niece Kathy (1983). She is survived by sister-in-law Kay (Selkirk), sister Betty of Winnipeg, sister Mary (Reiny) Remus of Florida, brother Frank (Amanda) Harder of Niverville, brother Bernie of Selkirk and many nieces, nephews and friends. Anne was born February 21, 1922 in Alexanderfeld, Russia. In 1926, her family came to Canada and after a short stay in Winnipeg settled on a farm in Niverville. 1936 saw the family moving to a farm in Petersfield and in 1947 to a house on Banning Street in Winnipeg. Anne was a scholar, (BA and BED at University of Manitoba) traveller, teacher, and a close friend to countless people from all over the world. She was employed as a governess in Australia in 1951 - 1953. In 1965/1966, the opportunity came to join the Chapman College in California, (campus on a ship) where she continued her schooling. It seemed that her life revolved around experiencing all that the geography of the world had to offer and teaching the experiences to her fortunate students. She lived in Winnipeg and helped care for her parents until their passing. Until her retirement in 1978, she taught in various schools in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and created a network of close friends where ever she lived. She finally settled down to her cottage home in Petersfield with her pet dog Shasta, where she graciously welcomed all who came to visit. Her spare time was filled with hobbies, reading, weaving, gardening, music, photography, and bird-watching. In 2003, poor health forced her to take an apartment in Selkirk, and more recently in June 2004, residence in Tudor House Personal Care Home. We wish to thank the staff of Tudor House for the compassion and loving care that they gave Anne, especially over this last year. The Reverend Deborah Vitt will officiate at the funeral service which will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at a luncheon following the service. Donations, if desired, may be made in Anne's memory to the charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
