MARGARET (PEARL) STODDART SCHINDELL (THOMSON) 1917 - 2007 Peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, Pearl passed away in Concordia Hospital at the age of 90. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 57 years, Larry; her daughters Nancy (Randy), Judy (Ted); son Bruce (Janet); grandchildren Heather, Brayden and Caitlin; Sister Jean (Norm); numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Pearl was predeceased by daughter Bonnie; parents George and Isabella; sister Betty; and Brother George. Pearl and her family left Edinburgh, Scotland when she was three years old and settled in Transcona, Manitoba. As a result of Mom's petite stature she was perfectly suited to the job of a riveter in the nose of an aircraft. Mom held this position during the Second World War. After the war Mom was a hairdresser before settling into her life long career as a wife, mother and homemaker. Pearl was a life member of the United Church Women (UCW), Past Noble Grand with Confidence Rebekah Lodge #40 and actively involved in both her church and community. Throughout Pearl's life she enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and sewing. Mom was a lifelong fan and supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and maintained season tickets for more than 40 years. Pearl enjoyed Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren. Pearl thoroughly enjoyed visiting with all her family and friends this past July at her 90th birthday party. We will miss her cookie care packages and vibrant sense of humor, huge heart and love of life. Our family would like to extend a very special thank-you to Rev. Carol Fletcher of the Transcona Memorial United Church for her caring and compassionate guidance, the staff of Concordia Hospital 3A and to the many home care providers from Access Transcona for their warmth, caring and compassionate attention given to mom. A memorial service to celebrate Pearl's life will be held at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2007. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to a charity of your choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements 222-6677.
