Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER PAWULSKI On Wednesday, September 5, 2007, Walter Edward Pawulski died of cancer at the Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon, MB. Walter, also known as Porky, was born on September 22, 1926, at Winnipeg Beach to John and Jessie Pawulski. During his youth, Walter was an avid hockey player and played for the Gimli Wolves for a number of years. In 1945 he joined the army until the the end of the war. He worked for Steve Rosjer Sr. on construction and for Gerry Shraeder painting and decorating, eventually turning his talents as an ice maker at Gimli and several curling clubs in Winnipeg. In 1957 he married Winnie and they had two children, Matthew and Bernadette. In 1992 Walter retired back to Winnipeg Beach. He spent many hours looking after the churchyard and his own garden and many flowers. The birds watched for Walter as he performed his ritual of feeding and talking to them. In 1996 he won the award from the Town of Winnipeg Beach for the most beautiful yard and garden. The highlight of Walter's life was the birth of his grandson, Jesse John, in 1995. Walter was predeceased by his son Matthew in 1994. Besides Winnie, he is survived by his daughter Bernadette, grandson Jesse, brothers Bert (Beverly) and Barry (Beverly) and nieces. Funeral mass will be held at our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Winnipeg Beach with Fr. Art Seaman officiating on Monday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. Honorary pallbearers are Red Magnusson, Allan and Eugene Zelenetsky, Jerry Schau and Lawrence Russin. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
