MARGARET ISFELD Peacefully, with family at her side, Margaret passed away at the Betel Home in Gimli, on September 7, 2007, at the age of 93 years. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband Eyjolfur; son Douglas; infant grandson Troy; infant great-grandson Daniel; her parents, Daniel and Jean McCarney; sisters, Johanna, Ann and Mary; brothers, Marcus, James and Jack, and sons-in-law Len Hillis and Metro Fortney. She leaves surviving her children, Margaret Ann Hillis, Deanna Isliefson (Cecil), Laura Isleifson (Allen), Bryon Isfeld (Linda), Jean Fortney, and Charles Isfeld (Marilyn); daughter-in-law Shelley Isfeld; brother Robert Jones (Theresa); 27 grandchildren; 42 greatgrandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Margaret was born in Napinka, MB and spent her childhood in Winnipeg, where she resided until her marriage to Eyjolfur in 1935. They lived and raised their family in Winnipeg Beach, MB. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent most of her days caring for her family and home, cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting. The family always looked forward to her baking days when she made her scones, gingersnaps, tarts, fruit cakes and vienetarta. They especially enjoyed her perogies. Every member of her family is the proud owner of one of her afghans. Margaret really enjoyed her years as manager of the local ice-cream parlor. One of Margaret's greatest joys in life was to work beside her husband and sons in the fish market. In her later days, Margaret enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo and playing cards with her sons. She looked forward to all activities at Betel, especially morning church services, Thursday bingo and Friday Happy Hour . Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church with Pastor Jayson Snider officiating. Interment will follow in the Husavick Cemetery. Her grandsons will be her pallbearers. The family would like to thank Dr. R. C. Patel and the staff of Betel Home for the loving and compassionate care they gave to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory can be made to the Betel Home Foundation, Box 10, Gimli, R0C 1B0 or to CancerCare, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
