DEACON ROSSIE WILLIS Deacon Rossie Willis, 65, Winnipeg, formerly of North Preston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born November 3, 1941 in North Preston (formerly New Road), he was the son of Beatrice (Downey) Willis, North Preston and the late William Willis. He was self employed as a truck driver and worked for many years as a caregiver for Manitoba Regional Health Authority. Rossie was a Deacon at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Winnipeg and member of Saint Thomas United Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Saint Thomas Brotherhood, senior choir and the Community Gospel Choir. He was very active with the seniors in various communities. Rossie is survived by sons, Rossie, Joseph (Sandy); daughters, Jessie, Madeline, all of Winnipeg; Sherry and Brandy, Toronto; sisters, Beatrice, Newmarket, Ontario; Margaret, Toronto; Pearl (Melvin), Lydia, Marthaline, Dartmouth; brothers; William, Steel, Toronto; Richard, Winnipeg; Thomas, Frank, Vincent, George, all of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Alysha, Austin, Hailey and Caiden; Godchildren, Augusta II, Pamela; sister-in-law, Frances Thomas, East Preston; sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by sister, Augusta Downey; brothers, Joseph, Alfrie, Donald. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, where Rossie's family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday and where the funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Reverend Linda Smith officiating. Interment in Downey Road Cemetery. Donations in Rossie's memory to The Canadian Red Cross, 133 Troop Avenue, Dartmouth, NS B3B 2A7 are welcomed.
