JEAN ANN STELMACH (nee ABUDA) It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on September 7, 2007, at the age of 73. She leaves to treasure her memory her loving family, husband and life mate Larry, her five children Brad, Lori, Daryll (Janet), Randy and Kenny (Colleen), her five precious grandchildren Christopher, Brayden, Danielle, Julia and Cole, brother Ed (Helen), sisters Margie and Helen (Roger), many nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by her mother Josephine, stepfather Peter, father Michael and brothers Joe and John. Jean was born in Teulon on June 6, 1934, came to Winnipeg at the young age of 16, and in 1958 she married Larry and they started building the life that she lived to the fullest. While raising five children, Jean worked for the North Kildonan Police Department before moving on to a fulfilling career with Kitchen Craft. She was as dedicated to her career as much as she was dedicated to her family, her friends and her community. Even though she worked full-time, she somehow found time to plant her garden every year and take everything that grew in that garden and can it or preserve it or freeze it so that we always had the best that she could possibly give us. Jean gave countless hours of time and love to her church, working at bake sales and dinners, singing in the choir, working bingo, the UCWL, church committees and boards. She also volunteered her time to election duties and canvassing for various charities. Mom's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Having her children and her grandchildren home for holidays and Sunday dinners was when she was happiest. Her kitchen was our meeting place and in her kitchen she was a master. Ask any one of us what our favourite food is and we'll say, Mom's cooking. Family dinners and dinner parties with her friends and neighbours were her passion. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Ave. Service will terminate at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Anne building fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mom, your spirit and strength, and your dedication and devotion to your family and friends will be with us forever. We know that you're here watching over us. You're our Angel and we love you, Baba.
