KENNETH CAMERON STEWART Suddenly, after a brief illness, on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the St Boniface Hospital, Kenneth Cameron Stewart, widower of the late Becky Stewart, aged 75 years of Poplar Point, Manitoba passed away. Predeceased by his parents Cam and Esther Stewart, he is survived by his children John (Ingrid), Kathy (Brian), Alex (Roz), Cam (Carol), his grandchildren Ruth, Carl, Laura, Kathy, Max, Lizzie, Jessica and Dean and his special friend, Pat Sontag. Ken was born in Portage la Prairie on July 27, 1932 and was raised in Edmonton, Alberta. During his childhood, he spent his summers working on the family farm near MacDonald, Manitoba. This was to lead to his life long career in Agriculture. In 1954 he graduated with a degree in Agriculture from the University of Alberta. Upon graduation he worked as a soil scientist in the Peace River region of Alberta. His career then took him to West Pakistan, Iraq and Ceylon (Sri Lanka), where he met and married Ida Katherine Machemehl of Bellville, Texas in 1957. They then returned to Winnipeg to raise their family. In 1959 Ken began his 27 year career with Public Press as Advertising Manager of the Country Guide Magazine. Following his retirement in 1988, Ken sold real estate in Portage la Prairie. In 1970 Ken moved his family to an acreage east of Poplar Point, Manitoba where he lived until his death. Most recently, his time was spent with family and friends as well, as in the coffee shops of Marquette, Elie, Poplar Point and Oakville. Honorary Pallbearers are Brian James, Buck Godwin, Hugh Bradley, Dan Allen, Gerry Duclos, Barry Christianson, and Harry Unrau. Funeral service with be held at the Omega Funeral Home in Portage la Prairie on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Steve Wilson officiating. A private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8.
