EDMAR REMPEL Edmar Rempel passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the age of 82, at the Bethesda Hospital. Edmar is survived by his wife, Martha, daughter and son-in-law Deyanne and Gerry Cleave, son Bryan and granddaughter Janelle. He is also survived by his extended family Art and Leona Rempel; Romelda and Ed Schellenberg; Lorne and Wilma Rempel; Leander and Louise Rempel and sister-in-law Elma (Peter) Rempel. Edmar was predeceased by his daughter, Beverley; parents Jacob and Elizabeth Rempel, brother Edwin and Pete Rempel and sister Alvina Loewen. Edmar's faith was an integral part of his life. He had a strong and simple faith which guided him through all of life's joys and difficulties. Dad loved music and followed his father's footsteps and served as the director of the Steinbach E.M.B. church choir for many years. Edmar, along with his brother Art owned and operated Steinbach Mills. The friendships he formed during those years lasted a lifetime. Dad and Mom were one of the founding couples who started the Association for Community Living - Steinbach Branch more than 50 years ago and they both had a passion to make a better world for special individuals. One of Edmar's great joys was his annual vacation to warmer places, especially the trips to Hawaii in the company of his dear friends Henry and Linda Peters. We as a family would like to thank Dr Krahn, Chaplain Larry Hirst and the staff of the Bethesda Hospital, as well as his homecare workers for their dedicated care. We would also like to thank our friends and family for their support and prayers. Viewing will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach on Wednesday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional to follow. The funeral service will be held at Cornerstone Bible Church, 290 First St., Steinbach on Thursday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Heritage Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made to Association for Community Living (ACL) Steinbach Branch, 395 Main St., Steinbach, MB R5G 1Z4.
