Laura was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Manitoba. It was here where our father approached our grandpa for her hand in marriage. They were married on December 5, 1954. She and our father raised six children up until our father's death on September 28, 1978. Laura was left to raise four children on her own. She worked endlessly at numerous jobs and her last workplace was at Grand Rapids School as a custodian. Laura worked for Frontier School for 17 years, retiring at the age of 60 in 1996. In addition to her custodial duties, she was an avid cook, having catered for many years with Suzette and Alice Mercredi. They catered for many different functions, most notable were for her three children's weddings, the Policeman's Ball, Winter Festivals, Ducks Unlimited and her favorite, the Frontier Games. Laura lived a simple life. She rarely had need of anything other than our love. Laura loved baking and talking with friends, especially Francis. She also liked to keep a nice yard. Her last few months were spent with her grandkitty Kramer who brought her laughter and joy. Laura was a devout Christian, and she attended Church as often as she could. She prayed continually for her children and grandchildren whom she adored. We will miss her sweet voice and the words For goodness sake. A heartful thanks goes out to Dr. J.J. Bellas and the GA4 staff of the H.S.C., who made her last hours comfortable. We would like to thank those people who took the time to come and see our mome during her stay in the hospital, we will be forever grateful. We would also like to thank the Grand Rapids Chief and Council for their continued support and to the community who we know, (like us) will miss her very much.
