Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIS REGINALD SHAVER Peacefully after a short illness, Willis Reginald Shaver passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg on September 12, 2007. Willis was 93 years old. Willis was born in Stormont County, Ontario to Selim Percy and Pearl Shaver on February 4, 1914. Willis married Gladys Shaver (nee Millross) in Kelowna, BC and they returned to the Swan River Valley to farm near Kenville, MB. Willis and Gladys moved to High River, AB in the mid 1950s to continue farming, returning in 1957 to farm at Benito, MB. After moving to Swan River in the 1960s Willis pursued his passion for cooking. He attended school in The Pas, taking camp cooking and then worked in MooseLake and Jenpeg until retiring in 1978 back to Swan River. After the passing of his wife Gladys in 1995, Willis resided in the valley and then moved to Chez Nous apartment block in Winnipeg. Willis was predeceased by his son Kenneth Reginald in 2004. Willis is survived by his special friend of many years, Elmira Branconnier of Winnipeg, sons, Gordon (Karrie) of Wellman Lake, Donald, of Winnipeg, Roy (Irene) of St. Andrews, daughter Marilyn (Glenn) Kerestes of Swan River, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In keeping with Willis' wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in Swan River at a later date. The family extends its thanks for the care of our father to the staff of floor 5E at the St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the staff of the WRHA.
