Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY JOHN CHEVILLARD January 16, 1920 September 8, 2007 Husband, Father, Uncle, Brother Born John Albert Trout to Sarah Jane Trout of Pimicikamak Cree Nation. Custom adopted by Isadore Chevillard. Dad left residential school at the age of 12 and went to work for the Hudson's Bay Company, as a York Boat Freighter. During the winter he trapped. When he turned 19, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces PPCLI 3rd anti-tank and served in Britain, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Three of his six years were attached to U.S. Bomber Command as a Dispatch Rider/Gunner, where he injured both knees while driving his motorcycle. After the war, he met and married Nellie Johnson. Together, they lived in Wabowden, Manitoba, where dad trapped to support all of us until 1953. We then moved to Churchill, where Dad worked for the Canadian National Railroad for three years and then the Port of Churchill where he took his training in Plumbing and Pipefitting. During the 1960s we were very nomadic and lived in Pikwitonei, The Pas, Cormorant, Wabowden, Channing (Flin Flon) and Winnipeg. While Dad worked as a pipefitter on hydro projects. From 1970 to 1973, Dad was a Commissionaire at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. Then returned to his first love, trapping. He trapped until 1992, when he began to develop Alzheimer's. Dad also had a congestive heart and diabetes. His war wounds finally affected his mobility. We cared for Dad at home and throughout the time Dad was ill, he always said, He would be going home soon . He did not like the city and wanted to be back on his trapline. Dad was predeceased by his children: Frederick, Roger, Alexander, and Donna. Also predeceased are his sisters, Yvonne and Laura Chevillard, as well as his aunts, Annie Robinson, Maggie Colomb and Abby Trout, uncle Moses Trout and his special cousin, Baptiste Robinson. Lovingly remembered by his wife Nellie (nee Johnson), his children: Violet, Ralph, John, Karen, Gloria, Joan, Henri, Debra, Kimberly and his sister, Mary Ducharme. Services: Monday, September 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., St. Lawrence Hall. Thompson, Manitoba.
