ROBERT MCALPIN FRASER MURIE Peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, Robert McAlpin Fraser Murie passed away at Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 85. He leaves to cherish his memory his caring and devoted wife Theresa of 54 years, son Fraser (Kathy), grandchildren, Cherie and Marc, daughter Cheryl Murie Sanders (Don), grandchildren, Danielle, Brett, Larissa and Matthew, sister-in-law Rose Bruneau and family, sister-in-law Eveline Lavoie and family. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Robert was born in England to Jemima Clark Fraser and Forrest Stevenson Murie but was raised in Glasgow, Scotland. During the Second World War he was a petty officer in the Royal British Navy in which he proudly served. In 1948 he came to Canada and worked for the Canadian General Electric X-Ray Company as a mechanical and electrical engineer installing and selling X-Ray equipment in hospitals throughout western Canada until his retirement in 1987. In his travels he had a reputation for being well liked and respected both among his colleagues and peers. Robert was an avid reader, he also loved to visit the theatre and historical sites. He most enjoyed being a 35 year member of the ANAF unit 283. He travelled extensively in Canada, USA and Scotland with his family. He would always say Scotland forever and Canada longer. Special thanks to the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for their care and compassion during Robert's stay and final days. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service was held on Saturday, September 8, 2007. Robert you will forever be in our hearts and memories.
