Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRUCE FREDERICK SMITH January 23, 1928 - September 12, 2007 Peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, Bruce passed away due to complications from lung cancer at the age of 79. He was predeceased by his loving wife Denise. Also, by his father Fred and mother Jean as well as sisters, Janet Manson and Sheila Wallace. He leaves to mourn one son Paul (Belinda) and a daughter Louise, friend Hilary as well as many friends and relatives. Bruce was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hockey and curling in his younger years. He was an active member at the Wildewood Club where he golfed for many years. He also followed professional sports including golf, hockey, baseball and CFL football. As well as that, Bruce enjoyed duck hunting with his good friends Gordon Wainright and Ed Norton. From time to time, he was able to feed his family with a dinner of roast duck. Dad was an automotive enthusiast and owned many fine cars over the years. All were carefully driven and maintained. Bruce worked at Investors Syndicate for over 40 years becoming the manager of the Data Processing Department. In his spare time, he spent many hours on his home computer. Dad was a good father and provided well for his family. He was honest and fair with all people that he met. He knew the value of money but was generous when it mattered. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview for their care and understanding. Also, thanks to staff and fellow residents of the Portsmouth Retirement Residence for their assistance and support. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
