ORESIA PALASHNUK 1925 - 2007 The family of Oresia Palashnuk is deeply saddened to announce her passing on September 14, 2007. Born Oresia Annie Danyluk on December 17, 1925, in Hamtramck, Michigan, Oresia came to Canada with her parents in 1930, growing up in Ethelbert, Manitoba. There she married Steve Palashnuk and they moved with their daughter Mary to several small railway communities, finally settling in Cranberry Portage. Oresia loved the lakes and beauty of this northern Manitoba community. After the death of Steve in 1987, Oresia made plans to move to Winnipeg, which she did in 1989. Oresia and her sister Mary spent the next six years discovering every street and restaurant in Winnipeg armed with Entertainment Book half-price coupons. Oresia is survived by her daughter Mary and son-in-law Norwood Cooper of Cranberry Portage, her granddaughter Angela (Rick) Rennpferd, her sister Netty (Ed) Johnson of Summerland, BC and several nieces and nephews, including Rae and Jon Chalmers, who took care of her. Oresia was predeceased by her siblings, Mike Danyluk, Mary Ritchie and Peter Danyluk. The family is grateful for the care and understanding of the staff at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Also, the family appreciates the efforts of Dr. Stanley Szajkowski, the staff at Hartford Drugs, Vicky and Holly, Oresia's Home Care workers, and Oresia's friend Lyla. These special people allowed Oresia to live independently in her palace at 1080 Powers. Special thanks also to Jack Mark who helped Oresia escape from her burning building in July 2004, giving her three more wonderful years. Cremation has taken place and, at Oresia's request, no service will be held. The family gratefully declines flowers, and suggests instead that you send these flowers to someone you love. We shall miss her incredible blue eyes, her enviable sense of style, her unfaltering vanity, and her brutal honesty. We love you OP.
