HELEN MARJORIE SLATER (nee CRAWFORD) Helen Slater passed away at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on Monday, September 10, 2007 at the age of 81 years. Remaining to forever cherish Helen's memory are her beloved husband of over 50 years of marriage, Arthur Slater, and many nieces and nephews in Oregon, Washington, Kentucky, Ontario and a niece in England. Helen is also survived by a close family of cousins in Elm Creek, Carman, Shoal Lake, Bossevain, Portage la Prairie, Neepawa and Toronto. She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Pearl Crawford; infant sister, Jean; sisters and brothers in-law in Portland, Victoria, Winnipeg; niece, Priscilla Grover of Ottawa; many aunts, uncles and cousins in Manitoba, Ontario, British Columbia and the United States. Helen was born in Waskada, Manitoba where she attended grade school. In 1939 her parents moved to Owen Sound, Ontario where she attended the Owen Sound Collegiate. The family moved back to Manitoba in 1945. Helen spent her entire life working as a copywriter at Eaton's; a job she loved. She also worked as a copywriter at The Bay in Victoria where the Slater's lived for 10 years. On returning to Winnipeg, Helen worked at The Bay, Northern Stores before moving back to Eaton's. Helen married Arthur Slater of Winnipeg in 1955. In compliance with Helen's wishes no formal funeral service will be held.
