SAVANNAH PARENTEAU With sadness we announce the passing of Savannah Parenteau in the presence of those who loved her on September 12, 2007 at the Children's Hospital. Savannah is now free from the constraints of this life. Her loss will be felt by her foster mom Barb, brothers and sisters, Kaiti, Nicky, Cheyenne, Marina and Ben. For nine years, Savannah was an integral part of our loving family. As much as possible, she experienced life to the fullest: camping, riding horses, and attending music and swimming lessons. She far exceeded her life expectancy, thanks to the love and commitment of her dedicated mom Barb. Savannah's biological family will also miss her dearly. Savannah's sunny disposition drew people to her. When spoken to, she rewarded them with a smile. We don't know if she could comprehend words but there was no doubt that that she had an understanding of emotion. She taught us love and patience and brought the community around her closer together. Metis Child Family Services understands that every child has the right to be part of a family and unconditionally supported Savannah in this. In her early years, Holly's enthusiastic presence brightened Savannnah's world. Later, Inwood School, especially Chantel, met Savannah's academic needs with sincerity. Hospital and ambulance staff in Teulon and Winnipeg repeatedly showed kindness and compassion and did their best to help her through many difficult times. Near the end, our friend Maureen, helped comfort her in her most difficult time of all. In memory of Savannah's life, there will be a gathering at the home of Barb Rieder on Thursday, September 20 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, all donations will directed to help children suffering from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
