LINDA FOX (nee DROBOT) After a courageous battle with cancer, with family at her side, Linda passed away on Friday September 14, 2007, at the age of 58 at the Selkirk District General Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband Harold of 35 years; son Scott; brother Brian Drobot; brother-in-law Ronald Fox; sisters-in-law, Lynne Hallam (Doug), Sandra Cronin (Randy) and Charlene Fox (Mark); nephews, Chris (Angela) and Jay (Michelle) Hallam and great-nieces Kayla and Meghan Hallam. She was also Grandma Linda to Sydney and Hayden Masniuk as well as Momma Linda to many of Stacey and Scott's friends. Linda is predeceased by her father George (2006), mother Anne (2002), daughter Stacey (2000), father-in- law Charles (2000) and, mother-in-law Margaret (1983). Linda was born July 15, 1949 and was raised in Kirkness, MB, where she attended Ashfield School and then attended high school in Selkirk, Mb. From there Linda continued her studies and became an LPN in 1969. Linda first started nursing at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg, and then went on to continue her career at the Selkirk District General Hospital working until her retirement in 2004. Linda and Harold were married October 23, 1971 and lived most of their married life in East Selkirk residing next to Harold's parents. Linda was very involved in both Stacey and Scott's lives. She volunteered on many school field trips, attended hockey and volleyball games and supported them in all of their many other activities. Linda documented all of their accomplishments and activities in the many albums and keepsakes that she preserved for them. Linda was a people person enjoying being with family and friends. She loved her outings with friends to various tea houses, craft sales and events across Manitoba. Another passion of Linda's was RVing; whether to Grand Beach, Manitoba, South Padre Island, Texas, or any other place that the 5th wheel could take Harold and her in Canada or the US. As a season ticket holder Linda loved attending Selkirk Steeler hockey games and could often be heard giving the refs direction as to how the game should be called. Linda was a talented crafter creating many cross stitch pictures that she gifted to friends and family. These pictures that Linda so lovingly created will be cherished for years to come. Linda will be remembered for her large collection of sunflower decor. But she will be remembered most for her unmistakably unique and infectious laugh. Thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Selkirk District General Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for their excellent care and compassion. A special thank you goes to the staff at S DGH who were not only Linda's former co-workers but friends as well. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 19 at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with her uncle Deacon Alex Drobot officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0B9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
