IVAN JAMES AIRTH With deep regret, the family of Ivan Airth announces his passing on Friday, September 14, 2007, one day shy of his 83rd birthday. Born near Gunton, Manitoba, on September 15, 1924, to Alexander and Gwendoline Airth, Ivan grew up on the farm in the Stonewall area. Ivan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Lillian, their children, Dianne (Delbert) Holm, Jim (Brenda) Airth, Wanda (Gilbert) Desroches, Terry (Pamela) Airth, their grandchildren, Richard, Marcia, David, Tim, Jason, Nicole, Kelly and their great-grandchildren, Ashley and Chet. Ivan is also survived by his twin sister, Ione (Lawrence) Scott, his brother Roy Airth and sisters, Vivian (Alan) Sheldon, Elva Broker, Thelma Sheldon and Frances (John) Essex. Ivan was predeceased by his parents, his sister Donna and his granddaughter, Lesley. Ivan lived in Winnipeg and was employed by Empire Dray and Express at the Air Canada Cargo building. Once retired, Ivan and Lil returned to the farm, building a home near Lockport. Ivan had a love of the outdoors (camping and fishing) and animals, especially horses. He worked full-time in his retiring years looking after his hobby farm and equestrian horses at Tyndalwood Farms. He enjoyed his grandchildren and telling stories to anyone who would lend an ear. For many years, Ivan selflessly cared for his wife who suffers from Alzheimer's until his own health recently prevented him from doing so. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, with interment on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ivan to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Rest in Peace Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
