FRANKLIN RICHARD ERNEST BRUCE GINGELL (BRUCE) It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Gingell, devoted husband of Diane, on Thursday, September 13, 2007. Bruce leaves to mourn his beloved wife Diane, son Guy (Kris), granddaughter Crystal, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Hubert, his mother Mabel and sisters, Shirley, Faye and Mick. Bruce, having enlisted at the age of 16, proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a gunner in the Second World War. He then joined the Winnipeg City Police, attaining the rank of detective sergeant, after which he became the office manager at Gallagher Company. Taking on a new challenge, Bruce then worked with the Manitoba Securities Commission until his retirement. Bruce was a widely travelled, self-educated man of keen intellect. He had many talents and interests, ranging from a love of literature to a gift for carpentry. One of his greatest joys was the cottage he lovingly built, where he and Diane spent many happy hours with their many friends and pampered pets. A man of few words, his crusty exterior masked a soft heart and endearing warmth. A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, followed by a gathering of friends. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of their choice.
