KATHLEEN (KAY) GORDON CAIN On September 11, 2007 at West Park Manor Personal Care Facility. Kathleen (Kay) was born on January 20, 1917 in Winnipeg. Orphaned at a young age, Kay was raised by her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Florence Smith. At 16, Kay went to work at Eaton's cash office, where she met Orson Jerry Cain who would become her husband some 10 years later. Kay stopped work to raise their daughter, Susan, but she rejoined the work force in 1965 at Federated Insurance Company, from which she retired in 1982. Kay and Jerry lived most of their adult lives in the Fort Garry area. After Jerry's passing in 1988, Kay lived for a number of years at Portsmouth Assisted Living Facility in Tuxedo. Kay is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gerry Meyers of Palm Desert, California and her nephew and his wife, Ken and Karen Smith of Calgary, Alberta. Kay wanted to be sure that her appreciation was expressed for the kindness and support of her long time friend, Jo-Anne Donnelly. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the many kindnesses shown to Kay by her friends and the staffs of Grace Hospital, Misericordia Health Centre and West Park Manor. Per Kay's wishes, she was cremated, and will be interred at a family ceremony in Brookside Cemetery with her husband. Cancer took her husband, Jerry, and Kay had therefore asked that anyone whishing to commemorate her life and passing would do so through a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
