Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN CAROL HEKLE (nee SCHREYER) It is with great heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother and friend on September 10, 2007 while traveling in Europe. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph; son Gary, daughter Carole Paquin and brother Joseph. She will be deeply and sadly missed by her daughter Judy McCrea (Ed); her sons, Wayne (Michelle) and Grant (Karen), daughter-in-law Carrie and son-in-law Robert Paquin. Her grandchildren, Michael (Yujin), Kevin (Merrilee), Tyler (Charlene), Kelley, Scott (Denise), Melissa, Allison, Kyle, Jana, Nicole, Colin, Julia, Ashley, Alan and great-grandson Liam. Kathy also leaves in her passing, her sister Mary Yakem and brother George Schreyer and half-brothers and sisters, Peter (Dianne), Cecil (Wilbur), Ed (Irene), Adele (Howard), Lawrence and Caroline and many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Sharron and Harvey Halabuza. Kathy was born April 18, 1921 in Ladywood, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg at a young age to find work. She met and married Joseph in 1943 and together they raised five children. Kathy and Joseph founded Canada Messenger Transfer (Direct Integrated Transportation) in 1946. They devoted much of their time developing the business and enjoyed the many friendships that were formed throughout the years. After retiring from the business, Kathy enjoyed baking, making perogies for family and friends and knitting booties and afghans for all. Kathy was passionate about all her children and grandchildren, providing unwavering support and encouragement. She loved to stand on the sidelines cheering at their many sporting events and school activities. One of Kathy's great joys was her world travels with her many friends. Kathy donated much of her time with the Concordia Women's Auxiliary and the Assiniboine Park Conservatory which lead to many long lasting friendships. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus's Church, 341 Munroe, East Kildonan. A heartfelt thanks to mom's dear friend Diane Lemon for being there for us all. We will be forever grateful. Flowers gratefully declined, for those who wish a donation in Kathy's name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Mom touched many lives and was especially known for her good nature, kind heart and enormous generosity and will be sadly missed by all.
