ELSIE HUNTER Peacefully after a brief illness our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away with her family at her side on September 17, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children and their families, Archie (Judy), Agnes (Brent) Giles, Colleen, Pat (Lawrence) Ferchoff, Rod (Diane), Kathleen and Lee; ten grandchildren, Michael (Tracy), Tracey, Jordy, Matthew (Stephanie), Melissa (Conrad), Mark (Melanie), Melanie (Steve), David (Natasha), Joel and Jay; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Dallas, Shelby, Riley, Jared and Teigan. She is also survived by her sister Agnes Edwards, sister-in-law Kay and will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John and son Eleson. Elsie grew up in Mather, MB and moved to Greenridge where she and husband John lovingly raised eight children on the family farm. Her community was very close to her heart and she was involved in many aspects of it. Mom was a devoted member of Greenridge United Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and took an active role in the Greenridge U.C.W. She belonged to the Women's Institute for many years and was a lifetime member of the Dominion City Curling Club. Mom's greatest joy in life was time spent with her children and grandchildren. She encouraged their athletic and musical abilities and enjoyed watching them participate in their activities. She was their biggest fan and her encouragement, advice and praise will always be remembered. After retiring from the farm she moved to Dominion City where she enjoyed many happy years with her friends and neighbours. Her flower garden was a labour of love and her pride and joy and was enjoyed by everyone. Mom was loved by all and will be sadly missed by all the lives she touched especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her and brought her great joy. A very special and heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Pierre Hospital for the excellent care, comfort and support provided to Mom and her family. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenridge United Church, Greenridge, MB with a private family interment at the Greenridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael, Jordy, Matthew, Mark, David, Joel and Jay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory may be made to the Greenridge United Church Memorial Fund.
