DOREEN EIDSVIG (nee DAVY) June 27, 1918 - September 14, 2007 Doreen, peacefully passed away at Meadowood Manor at age 89 where she resided since 2003. Survived by one son Mark (wife Nancy), grandsons, Garrett (Vancouver) and Drew (Winnipeg) and sister Hazel Wineke (Oregon). Predeceased by husband Harold (1959); parents, Frank and Olive Davy, sisters, Edna Hatley (Vancouver), Connie Wesley (Winnipeg 1999) and Betty Tomlinson (Winnipeg 2006). Attended Kelvin High School, enjoyed playing baseball in summer, skiing in winter, and dancing. Married Harold 1944 who became a golf professional in 1948 (latter years at Niakwa). Enjoyed cosmetic sales at Eaton's until retirement, canine companion Nicky of 16 years, travelled by bus out West to visit Mark (married Nancy 1971 Vancouver) every other year until 1986 when Mark moved family to Winnipeg, and time spent with grandsons during their early school years. Doreen was very close with sister Betty who was one of her primary support. Betty loved to shop for Doreen and would visit with her weekly, bringing her clothes and decorations for her residence. Nancy was Doreen's substitute decision maker and advocate. Doreen loved to tell tales of her family heritage. Father was the great-great-nephew of inventor Sir Humphrey Davy; ancestors from infamous Nottingham and Penzance, Wales; more stories which Mark can recall. Family wish to acknowledge with much gratitude previous services of Winnipeg HomeCare, Victoria General Hospital, Misericordia Interim Care, and the excellent and compassionate care provided by the wonderful staff at Meadowood Manor.
