OLGA HANEC Olga Hanec passed away September 17, 2007 at the Seven Oaks Hospital after a lengthy illness. Olga lived her life as a mother and homemaker. She grew up in Winnipeg and lived in the city for her entire life, except for a short period when she went to Madison, Wisconsin to support her late husband Bill who was getting his doctorate in entomology, the study of insects. Olga struggled with illness throughout her life but never ceased in her love and care towards her two sons, Bill and Greg Hanec. Baba was devoted to her grandchildren, Evan and Elyse Hanec of Calgary. She loved her sister Stephanie Lessman of Mission Viejo, California; her nephews, Michael and James Lehman who reside in California and nieces, Julia and Serena of San Juan Capistrano, California. Baba always called to see how everyone was doing. She showered her family with gifts and never let special occasions pass without letting her family feel her love for them. Olga was a kind and generous friend to her neighbours. She gave to people she knew and to many charities. Olga was a companion to those in need, helping them to go to doctors visits, shopping and even walking their dogs on occasion. Olga's health declined over the years, but her love for others grew. She always let her family know that they were special to her. As Olga grew weaker, she always had the energy to say I love you' to her family and lended support to people she knew. We will all miss Baba's soft, sweet voice, her support and care. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 21 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital who helped Mom during the months she was there. Your patience and unending care and support are both a comfort and blessing. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
