Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNA WHITESIDE (nee NEDJELSKI) 1908 - 2007 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Verna Whiteside, on September 17, 2007 at the age of 99. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandson, Richard Turner (Tamara), granddaughter, Sheri Turner (Kesh), great-grandsons, Evan and Rylan Ramnarace; sisters, Jean Dolezal of Ronan, Montana, Florence Scofield of Westbank, BC and Helen Murray of Dawson Creek, BC and brother Ed Nedjelski of Oyama, BC. She will also be remembered by many extended family members and friends. Verna was predeceased by her parents, sister Victoria (Vicky), brothers, Chester (Chet), Henry and Ben, as well as her husband Allan in 1995 and daughter Linda in 2007. Verna was born in 1908, in Warsaw, Poland, to Marcel and Rose Nedjelski. When she was four years old, they moved to a farm near Kuroki, Saskatchewan and she lived there until she finished school. After working as a Housekeeper for many people, she moved to Holmfield, Manitoba, where she met Allan. They were married in 1939 and farmed for many years. In 1962 they moved to Killarney. The years passed while they played Bingo, Cribbage, 500 and other games. Verna moved to the Royal Manor in 1995, living on her own until 2006. Verna dearly loved her family. She enjoyed many visitors, a good laugh, fried chicken, violin and piano played by her grandsons and many card games. Verna also loved to garden, make colourful quilts and bake pies and potato buns. The family would like to sincerely express thanks to niece Doreen Stolar, friends, Elaine May, Jean Croft, Lois Kellett, Vera Turner and many other friends who helped pass her days by providing comfort and company. Thank you also to the staff at Bayside who were so kind to grandma and her family. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at Wheatland Chapel in Killarney on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Killarney Funeral home in care of arrangements.

Dear Gran, We miss you every day. I especially loved it when you broke into a gut-splitting laugh because of something the boys or Kesh said! I've been trying to keep up my cribbage skills and love to use your board, remembering you sitting across from me. We also miss your smile, stories & love, but are forever grateful for the time we had. - Posted by: sheri turner (granddaughter) on: Jan 27, 2015
