DOROTHY KATHLEEN YATES 1922 - 2007 With her loving daughters and son-in-law at her side, Dorothy passed away on September 17, 2007 at the age of 85. She was born in Fort Rouge, Winnipeg on June 25, 1922 and remained an only child. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, William and Ivy Tagg and by her devoted husband George in 1975. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Yates and Susan (Harry) Zachanowich. After moving to Fort Garry in 1951, Dorothy became an active member of Fort Garry United Church. Music was very important to Dorothy. She sang in the church choir and also in the Winnipeg Seniors Choir. She also volunteered for many years with the Winnipeg Music Festival. Dorothy was an accomplished pianist and often played for Sunday services at the local personal care homes. In 1966, she returned to the work force, spending many years with the Red Cross and later doing temp. jobs for ICG and Ducks Unlimited. Dorothy loved Victoria Beach and spent many happy summer vacations there with her parents, and later with her husband and children. Thank you so much to the wonderful caregivers at St. Norbert Personal Care Home who tried so hard to make her comfortable in her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with interment to follow.
