HELEN MARY WEDGEWOOD (nee WARD) November 6, 1952 September 14, 2007 With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Helen on September 14, 2007. Helen was born in Saskatoon, SK and raised near Rivers, MB where she met and married her husband Doug in 1971 (October 9). They lived in Winnipeg where their daughter Jane was born in 1976. Helen, Doug and Jane moved from there to Dugald, MB where they owned and operated Dugald Convenience Store, before moving to Elie, MB where they ran Elie Grocery, before finally becoming owners of Sanford Lumber and Building Supplies in Sanford, MB. An avid reader, a fan of music, games and golf, Helen's main focus was always her close friends and family. A second mom to many, Helen had an amazing ability to put people at ease and we often looked to her for advice and counsel. Always the voice of reason, Helen was our rock and our source of strength. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Doug, daughter Jane Chartrand and son-in-law Keith, mother Dorrie and mother-in-law Margaret, brother Larry (Deb) and sisters, Cathy (Howard), Dorothy (Andy), Eileen (Larry), brothers and sisters-in-law, Bonnie, Betty (Terry), Jim (Michelle), Shirley (Bob), Steve, Roger, Frank (Tammy) and Margaret (Al), nieces and nephews, Rob, Sheri, Christine, Jesse, Jim, Zeb, Steve, Dave, Melissa, Jennie, Angie, Kate, Kelly, Savannah, Rory and all of their extended families and many friends. Helen was predeceased by her father Arthur Ward, sister Beverly Lund (née Ward) and father-in-law Frank Wedgewood. A Memorial Service and gathering took place on Thursday, September 20, 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Lupus Society of Manitoba, 105 - 386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6.
