ARTHUR LAWRENCE STEVINSON Art was born in Parkbeg, Saskatchewan on December 3, 1919. After a short illness, he died peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital on September 1, 2007. He was predeceased by his wife, Eva Marie (Warkentin) and his eldest daughter, Linda. He is survived by his older brother, Harry and his children, Allan and Carol (John). He also leaves his stepchildren, Carolyn (Harold), Fred (Kathy), Elizabeth and David (Joni); 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Art was schooled throughout western Canada as his father was a minister and the family moved often. Following high school Art took a two year course in industrial electricity in Calgary. After several years of work experience he entered the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Engineering. His 40 year professional career was with Canadian General Electric. During his career and beyond he was a Rotarian, a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and an active member of Bethesda Church. Art enjoyed spending his summers at Victoria Beach. He played many rounds of golf and enjoyed puttering around the cottage. He was the chief bike repairman for the whole family. Art loved entertaining his friends and family with his stories, many of which came from his summers working at Chateau Lake Louise. He spent his last several years at Sterling House, where he made many friends. His best friend, Dr. Andrew Karsgaard, was a constant companion and support. Art made a commitment to the Lord and anticipated being in heaven. Rest in peace, Art. A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Avenue, on Saturday, September 29th at 1:30 p.m. Donations, in Art's memory, may be made to the Gideons or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Art was my grandpa. I didn't get to see him a lot but when I did go visit him he always had some cool old antique to show me. I knew he died but unfortunately my dad, his son, and I no longer speak therefore I didn't go to the funeral, I didn't even know when he died. I can't believe it's almost been 10 years. I really want to get to know my dad's side of the family, I'm looking for you guys. Please, if any one of you see this reach out to me over social media. We have the right to know each other. - Posted by: Katrina Scott (Granddaughter) on: May 24, 2017
