DAVID JAMES DEXTER After a long and courageous battle with a brain tumor, our loving son and brother Dave passed way on September 19, 2007 at the age of 26. Dave graduated from Kildonan-East Collegiate in 1988, and was a loyal employee of Sobeys, working first at the Henderson store, and more recently at the Reenders store. Dave spent his winters at the Elmwood Curling Club. He always prided himself in taking the last limo home from the annual members Gentlemen's Banquet. Dave also had a passion for golf. He was an active member of the Rossmere Golf Club and could always be found having a cold one after the game. Dave enjoyed his annual golf/camping trips with his dad to Clear Lake and Falcon Lake. It always seemed to rain, but that did not stop the fun. Dave was also a huge sports fan. He was a long suffering fan of the Chicago Cubs. He was devoted to the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed attending Blue Bomber games and going to see the Labour Day Classic in Regina. He enjoyed the peace and tranquility of Booster Lake with his family and his Godparents, Pat and Bernie Dronzek. Booster-style chicken always tasted so good! Dave is survived by his parents, Jim and Dianne Dexter, sister Jody, and grandmothers, Nancy Dexter and Clarissa Malcolmson. Other surviving family members include aunts and uncles Murray and Linda Malcolmson and Chris and Bob Boser, and cousins, Daniel, Ted, Martin and Nicole. Thank you to our family doctor Dr. Christopher Ibbitt and his wife Lynne, and neurologist Dr. Gomori, whose quick actions prolonged Dave's life. Also thanks to Seven Oaks PANSU and the Health Sciences Centre neurosurgical unit, particularly Drs. MacDonald, Krcek and Kaufmann, and to the wonderful staff at CancerCare. To Nicole Frechette at Taché Centre, thank you for your hard work in arranging Dave's transfer into the youth wing where he was able to participate in the summer program which he enjoyed so much. To the nursing and support staff at Taché Centre, you were all so amazing, and Dave loved every one of you. You all went the extra mile to make Dave's last months very special. Special thanks to Sister Annette and Rev. Kolleen Karlowsky-Clark for their spiritual support to Dave. Also thanks to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface, who kept him comfortable and pain free during the last hours of his life. To all of his loyal friends, especially John Loewen, Conrad Berger and Dustin Holtslag who followed Dave from one crisis to the next, thanks for your constant support through these most difficult times. And to all of our friends who held us together with your love and support (you know who you are), thank you so much. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Catherine Anglican Church, 3202 Bird's Hill Road, Bird's Hill (East St. Paul), just north of Hoddinott Road, adjacent to Highway 59. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
