Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN BARBARA (BARB) LEGGE (nee GRAHAM) With deep sadness we announce that Barb passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Grace Hospital on September 19, 2007. Barb will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jim; sons, Mike, Barry (Karen), Tom (Lea) and Bob (Carol); grandchildren, Shannon (Jeffrey), Robyn, Brock (Carla), Michael (Jessica), Matthew, Kaitlin (Scott), Dan (Shannon), Marni (Conrad), Jillian (Matt) and Kevin (Amanda); brother Bob Graham; brothers-in-law, Ron (Lynn) Legge and Andy Holmes; sisters-in-law, Anne Legge and Marjorie Legge; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Blanche (Bah) Graham. Barb was born in Winnipeg on July 22, 1929 and from the age of two was raised by her single mother, Bah. From her mom she got her strength and determination. She graduated from Kelvin High School and then briefly worked at Air Canada where she met the love of her life, Jim. She and Jim were married in 1950 and they raised their four boys on Doran Bay. She became well known in the St. James sports community as the biggest and most enthusiastic fan at their football, baseball and hockey games. Years later she would be back on the sidelines to cheer on her grandchildren with the added pleasure of watching her granddaughters at musical theater, dance recitals and swim meets. Barb loved to travel, read, bowl, play bridge and spend time with family and friends. She also loved her summers with her close friends at Traverse Bay. She could make a simple trip to the grocery store a social occasion. Barb had a quick wit, a sharp tongue and an infectious laugh. Barb's greatest accomplishment was her love and dedication to her family. She was inseparable from Jim and so proud of her boys. She was a beloved grandma who would make your favourite meal or dessert when you came to visit and always made you feel special. Mom, we will miss your laugh and will fulfill our promise to look after Dad for you. Grandma, we couldn't have asked for any better. Thank you. Special thanks to the dedicated staff at Grace Hospital, especially the staff on the third floor and ICU. The family would especially like to thank Nurse Doreen for her compassion and dedicated care. A memorial service is to be held on Monday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3K 0Z3. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Barb's honour to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7 or Special Olympics Manitoba Inc., 402-200 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4M2.
