MARY (DOROTHY) MARGARET RICHARDSON (MCPHERSON) February 5, 1929 - September 18, 2007 After an 18 year battle with Parkinson's disease, Dorothy entered into rest at home in Courtenay, BC. She leaves to mourn, her daughters, Susan (Jim) Cameron of Courtenay, Diana (Randy) Bonkoski of Winnipeg, and sons, Robin Richardson of Edmonton, Christopher (Donna) Richardson of Winnipeg and stepchildren, Heather Wawia, Vivian Cudmore and Warren Richardson; sister Charlotte McCarron of Winnipeg, and sisters-in law, Gertie McPherson, Ida MacPherson and Sheila McPherson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also very sad at Grandma's passing are grandchildren, Christie (Sylvain) Beaudoin, Amanda, James and Kevin McKenzie, Courtney and Colin Cameron, Sheryl, Stephen and Brett Bonkoski, Sara and Tyler Richardson; great- grandchildren, Jordan, Joshua and Christian Beaudoin and Lauren McKenzie. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, James and Jean McPherson, brothers, James, Frederick, Leonard, sister Alice May, her great-grandchild Brendan Beaudoin and former husband Robert Richardson. Dorothy was born the youngest of six children at her parent's farmhouse in LaSalle, MB. Dorothy grew up in Winnipeg where she attended Montcalm and Daniel McIntyre Schools. She married and raised her family in Saskatoon, Thunder Bay, Kamloops and Winnipeg. Dorothy spent many of her working years in the retail industry and retired to Courtenay, BC. Dorothy was very proud of her children and would do anything she could for her family. She had many interests, loved reading non-fiction and was known to read whole sets of encyclopedias. She enjoyed a challenging game of Trivial Pursuit or Scrabble, and loved collecting recipes, shells, rocks, spoons and tea cups. A very creative woman, she enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, knitting and was a wonderful seamstress. A highlight for Dorothy was visiting her parent's hometown of Stonehaven, Scotland in 1997 and seeing Stonehenge in person. Mom requested that donations be made to the Parkinson's Society in lieu of flowers. Following cremation, the memorial service will be held Friday, September 28 at 12:30 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc. at 984 Portage Ave. (Aubrey Street entrance, 949-2200) with a private interment at Brookside Cemetery.
