JOHN KOHUT October 26, 1932 - September 22, 2007 On Saturday, September 22, 2007, our beloved Papa John, aged 74, passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre with family at his side. John leaves to mourn Sylvia, his loving wife of 50 years, his daughter Monique who was his pride and joy, and son-in-law Doug Bailey, who he always said was the son he never had. Papa John cherished and will be missed dearly by his grandsons - his two jewels Dakota and Tristan. John also leaves behind two brothers, Boris and Walter, his sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He will be sadly missed by his lifelong friends Adam Romanchuk and Eric Hagenstein. Prior to his retirement, John worked at Building Products for 33 years, followed by Canadian Tire and St. Boniface Golf Course. John loved spending his time with Dakota and Tristan and watching them play sports. He also enjoyed chess, listening to opera, playing cards with friends and following the stock market. John traveled extensively throughout his life, and his favourite place in the world was Piccadilly Circus in London, England. Even while battling cancer, John insisted on taking one last memorable trip with Sylvia to New Orleans. A memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (one block south of the Royal Canadian Mint) on Wednesday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor John Epp officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. A special thank you goes out to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their wonderful care.
