Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN STOBERT (nee YOURCHENKO) On Saturday, September 22, 2007, after a brave battle with a lengthy illness, mom passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Mom was 86 years old. Mom was predeceased by her husband, our dad, Irvin in 1983; sons, Raymond in 1994 and Miles in 1966 and a daughter Beverly in 1954. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian (Joyce) of Winnipeg, Lawrence (Marion) of Arborg, Darlene Radocaj (Joe) of Winnipeg, Linda Miller (Richard) of Ste. Anne, Marie Birch (Lorne) of Winnipeg, Gladys of Winnipeg, Ken (Bonnie) of Winnipeg, Tim (Debbie) of Steinbach. Mom was Nana to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had many friends at the German Club Society. She will be especially missed by her best friend Eva Imr of Winnipeg and of course Koko. Mom was born in Bifrost, Manitoba, on July 26, 1921, and moved to Winnipeg at the age of 15. She married dad on September 12, 1939, and shortly thereafter they moved to Beausejour. After years of farming mom and dad moved to Red Lake, Ontario, before returning to Winnipeg again in 1958. Mom was an excellent cook. She loved cooking for her family, and friends seldom shared her coveted Secret Recipes. She was well known for her fantastic perogies, cabbage rolls and borscht. Mom loved knitting, crocheting and gardening. She was an avid bingo player and was always happy to win. Mom had a fantastic sense of humour - even on some of her most difficult days she had hospital staff and visiting family laughing with her sharp wit. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, Manitoba, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will also be held from the chapel on Friday, September 28, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Robertson officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Joey Stobert, Michael Stobert, Kyle Kalcsics, Derek Birch, Brett Birch and Corey Birch. Honorary pallbearers will be Lorne Birch Sr. and Michael Radocaj. If friends so desire memorial donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
