GORDON DOUGLAS HEWITT Peacefully on September 21, 2007, Gord passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 57. Surviving family members are sister Barbara (Don) Newell, brother James Hewitt. Daughters, Charlene (Stuart) Eckert and Amanda Hewitt. Grandsons Kallan and Ashland Eckert, numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. Gord was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Laura, brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Hewitt. Gord was born in Winnipeg on November 25, 1949, growing up in West Kildonan. He had a passion for the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and scuba diving. He was a self taught musician and talented craftsman able to build and repair almost anything. Gord dealt with the adversity of his failing health over the past years with a tenacity and determination few could comprehend. Our sincere thanks and gratitude goes to his entire support team at the Independent Living Resource Centre. Their compassion and patience with Gord will always be remembered. A memorial service will take place at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Avenue, West Kildonan on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
