PEARL CAPLAN Pearl Caplan, a lifelong resident of Winnipeg, passed away on September 24, 2007 in Minneapolis at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Earl, her parents, Esther and Isadore, her sister Zelda, her brothers, Abe and Arthur and five sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law. Pearl was a 1936 graduate of the University of Manitoba, attaining the silver medal. The rest of her life was spent deeply caring for her loved ones, a performance truly meriting the gold medal. Pearl was a supporter of many charities and a founding member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Manitoba. She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Lisa, grandchildren, Chloe, Alyssa and Erin, brother Manny (Lillian), sister Sylvia, sister-in-law Sayre and many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Special thanks are due to Pearl's compassionate and wonderful caregivers Tess, Fely, Marianne, Lucy, Linda, Penny and Fina, who enhanced the quality of her life tremendously in her final years. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at Chesed Shel Emes at 1023 Main Street. Burial will be held at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Manitoba.
